Cody Gakpo, a forward for Liverpool, has been struggling to find his best form since joining the club from PSV Eindhoven. The brother of Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho recently took a swipe at Gakpo on social media. Roberto, Alejandro’s brother, has been vocal about football matters on social media and has previously defended Alejandro while also expressing his own opinions.
Gakpo, who joined Liverpool for a deal worth £37 million plus add-ons, has not been able to secure a regular spot in manager Jurgen Klopp’s plans. He has been played in various positions, including on the wings, as a No. 10, and as a striker. Alejandro Garnacho, on the other hand, has been in great form for Manchester United this season.
Interestingly, United had also been interested in signing Gakpo from PSV before Liverpool sealed the deal. Feyenoord’s Arne Slot is set to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, and this news prompted Roberto to make a sarcastic comment on social media about Gakpo’s performance. Gakpo will be hoping to improve under the management of Slot, who reportedly favors a different formation from Klopp and could provide Gakpo with more opportunities to showcase his skills.
