Tottenham are reportedly planning to hold a ‘transfer summit’ with Serie A side Genoa. The summit will involve discussions of various players and proposals, including Djed Spence. Spence, who moved to north London from Middlesbrough two years ago, has only made six appearances for Tottenham and has been loaned out three times.

Italian outlet Calcio Mercato claims that strong relations between Spurs and Genoa could lead to a flurry of activity between the two clubs this summer. Radu Dragusin made the switch in January for a reported £26 million as Spence went the other way on a loan deal until the end of the season. Genoa have an option to buy Spence permanently for £8.5 million after his 11 appearances for the club during his short spell.

They are set to hash out further details with Spurs at the end of the season as Ange Postecoglou’s side remain interested in Albert Gudmundsson. Gudmundsson, who can operate across the frontline, has scored 13 league goals this season and has attracted interest from a host of top European clubs, including Inter Milan and Juventus. Spurs could look to be shrewd while conscious of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules by reducing the fee for Gudmundsson and getting Spence’s wages off the books in the process, as Postecoglou searches for more attacking depth.

Gudmundsson could be preferred over Werner ahead of a transfer meeting between Spurs and Genoa, in which the Italian club’s sporting director Marco Ottolini is likely to be in attendance. He admitted to interest in their top talents both within Italy and internationally. Ottolini said, “Our team has players who are attracting interest.

These profiles are targets for a lot of teams, which is normal. There are players who are attractive not just within the Italian transfer market, but also internationally. However.

We’re focusing on these last nine matches. That’s what we have to do at the moment.”

Should a swap deal be agreed upon between the two clubs for Gudmundsson, Spence could extend his stay in Italy and put an end to his two-year-long Spurs nightmare.
