Newcastle are keen on retaining Guimaraes as they prepare for a renewed top-four challenge next season but may be unable to prevent Arsenal from pursuing him further. A ‘verbal agreement’ would enable Guimaraes to speak with Champions League clubs if they submit offers below the value of his release clause, provided they exceed £80m.

Newcastle is reportedly looking to raise money through player sales to ensure compliance with Premier League financial rules next season, leading to speculation about several star players, including Guimaraes, potentially leaving the club. There are reports that Kalvin Phillips and Conor Gallagher, who could potentially move later this year, have been looked at by the Magpies in the past.

It is uncertain whether Arsenal will ultimately sign Guimaraes, as he may prefer to remain at Newcastle after purchasing a new home in a prestigious neighborhood with his family. His agent recently stated that he is ‘very happy’ at Newcastle, expressing his contentment with the club.

Guimaraes has been a regular starter for Newcastle this season, only missing one league game due to suspension, and has contributed four goals and eight assists in all competitions. He is contracted with the Magpies until the summer of 2028.
