Michael Olise is reportedly set to leave Crystal Palace. Both Manchester City and Chelsea could soon be ruing their failures to tie down Olise, as the star is set to make a huge money move this summer. Despite an injury-hit season, the French forward has underlined his potential at Crystal Palace in 2023/24, scoring six goals in his 12 Premier League appearances. Winger Jadon Sancho is also expected to be off-loaded when his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund expires, highlighting the apparent misjudgement of two of United’s Premier League rivals.
Olise, a former French Under-21 international, spent seven years at Chelsea before being released in 2016 at the age of just 14, and then joined City. He has scored six times this season despite his injury problems. He would spend just 12 months with City’s academy before being deemed surplus to requirements, ultimately finding success at Reading. He returned as a second-half substitute in a recent match against Manchester City and is expected to feature again in the upcoming game at Liverpool.
The current speculation underlines the importance of Crystal Palace keeping hold of Olise, as former manager Roy Hodgson noted the significance of the club retaining their prize asset. It is uncertain whether the club would like him to honor his deal and improve the team around players like him.
