Man Utd can replicate Alex Ferguson’s classic transfer by signing £40m star

Manchester United is reportedly considering a transfer move that echoes the tactics used by former manager Sir Alex Ferguson. The team has been facing a series of injuries to their center-back options throughout the season, and it is suggested that Max Kilman, a regular starter for Wolves in the Premier League, could potentially solve this issue. Reports from The Times indicate that United has Kilman on their radar as they aim to establish a reliable defensive partnership for the upcoming season. Although negotiations between the two clubs have not yet commenced, Kilman is said to have an asking price of around £40 million, following a previous £30 million offer from Napoli that was rejected in the summer.

This potential transfer aligns with the strategy Ferguson often employed during his time at United, where the club would secure star players from their Premier League rivals in a bid to not only enhance their own squad but also weaken competitors in the same division. This rumored move comes at a time when Wolves, under the management of Gary O’Neil, have performed creditably, maintaining a mid-table position. Meanwhile, Manchester United already possesses several options for the center-back position, including Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, and Jonny Evans.
