Man Utd reportedly consider Roberto De Zerbi as Sir Jim Ratcliffe discusses Erik ten Hag’s future.

The Daily and Sunday Express are home to INEOS. INEOS is making efforts to establish an elite sporting environment, evident through the appointment of new chief executive Omar Berrada and the pursuit of Dan Ashworth as the club’s first sporting director.

Talks have reportedly taken place regarding potential replacements should the club decide to part ways with Ten Hag at the end of the season or earlier. Among the candidates is De Zerbi, who is also of interest to Manchester City as part of their succession plan for Pep Guardiola.

A loss to Manchester City in the Manchester derby on Sunday, combined with an Aston Villa win at Luton Town, would place United 11 points behind the top four. United’s disappointing performance in the Champions League, finishing at the bottom of Group A with just one win, has significantly tarnished their record.

The club’s defense of the Carabao Cup, which ended their six-year trophy drought, was thwarted with a 3-0 home loss against Newcastle United in the fourth round. According to reports, some players and staff have expressed doubts about Ten Hag’s methods, including his tactical approach and recruitment.

If United were to lose against Nottingham Forest for the second time this season and get eliminated from the FA Cup fifth round on Wednesday night, the situation would likely deteriorate for Ten Hag. Not even the FA Cup may save him, as history shows that managers like David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer were sacked in seasons when United failed to qualify for the Champions League.
