Tottenham’s Young Player Without Any Goals This Season Expected to Be the Next Marcus Rashford

Tottenham youngster Dane Scarlett has been compared to Marcus Rashford. Scarlett struggled on loan at Ipswich in the first half of the season, failing to score in 12 Championship appearances.

However, he impressed during a temporary spell at Portsmouth, scoring six goals in 34 league appearances. The Spurs academy graduate possesses a fierce strike when coming in off the left flank.

It was revealed that staff at Portsmouth wanted Scarlett to learn to play as a left-winger after realizing that he possessed similar abilities to Marcus Rashford. Spurs’ manager, John Mousinho, made the initial comparison to Rashford last year, stating that Scarlett definitely has a future playing off one of the wings.

Pompey’s first-team coach spoke about Scarlett’s ability to play as a left-winger, describing him as a ‘brilliant presser’ who can cut inside and shoot. Scarlett’s struggles in the Championship frustrated Spurs, as he did not start a match for Ipswich and could not join another club due to FIFA’s rules.

Scarlett has returned to Spurs for the second half of the season and is described as a ‘good kid’ with potential. Manager Ange Postecoglou said it is up to Scarlett to prove himself and earn opportunities.
