A man was fatally stabbed outside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before their Premier League match against Nottingham Forest. The police and paramedics responded and found the man with multiple stab wounds. Despite attempts at resuscitation, he succumbed to his injuries. No arrests have been made yet, but the police believe they know the victim’s identity and are in the process of notifying his next of kin.
Parts of Worcester Avenue and Northumberland Park Road will remain cordoned off for the police investigation throughout the game. Tottenham Hotspur issued a statement before the kick-off, stating that the Premier League fixture would proceed as planned. However, they mentioned the closure of parts of Worcester Avenue and Northumberland Park Road and asked for fans’ patience and understanding. The club expressed their condolences to the victim’s family and everyone affected by the incident.
Chief Inspector Stephen Johnston-Keay assured that the police are conducting a thorough investigation and are committed to identifying and arresting those responsible for this tragedy. He also thanked the local community for their cooperation and understanding during the investigation. The match between Spurs and Forest was rescheduled to a Sunday slot due to planned tube and rail strikes, but ironically, those strikes were canceled. Nevertheless, certain train operators will be affected by staff walkouts.
Tottenham apologized for the last-minute change and expressed regret to fans for the inconvenience caused.
