Bukayo Saka made a perfect response to taunts from the Tottenham crowd during the North London Derby by delivering an exquisite cross to help Arsenal open the scoring. Following this, Arsenal went on to secure a 3-2 victory over their rivals. The first goal came in the 15th minute when Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg headed into his own net from a corner delivered by Saka. Saka then turned to goal scorer by tucking in a neat finish just 12 minutes later after an electric counter-attack.
Arsenal extended their lead before halftime with Kai Havertz heading home from a corner. Despite Tottenham fighting back with goals from Cristian Romero and Son Heung-min, Saka and Arsenal had the last laugh. Saka was the subject of antagonizing chants from the Spurs crowd throughout the game, particularly in reference to the missed penalty during the Euro 2020 final. The forward responded to the enraged supporters after assisting the opener, adding fuel to the fire in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
After delivering a corner, Saka received chants of ‘you let your country down’ and could not resist the urge to respond by cupping his ear towards the Spurs crowd, prompting jeers. Declan Rice also responded to heckling from the crowd during the game, as he assisted Havertz’s goal with a corner and celebrated by turning back towards the Tottenham supporters. This continued as the Gunners exploited their expertise from set-pieces, much to the amusement of Arsenal supporters.
