(Image: Getty) Arsenal may be able to widen their search in the transfer window this summer, thanks to two budding wonderkids who are ready to make the step up to the first team. Mikel Arteta has been keen to promote from within since returning to North London, and he may need to look at the academy once more to help solve next season’s rising fears.
As many as four homegrown players could depart the Emirates at the end of the season, alongside Kieran Tierney, as part of an Arsenal clear-out. However, several Englishmen are seemingly on the chopping block to raise funds and appease the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.
English top-flight teams publish a 25-man squad list at the beginning of each season, of which eight spots are reserved for players who fulfill the homegrown player quota. Should Arsenal part ways with four of their existing players who meet such a rule, they run the risk of falling foul of the regulations.

However, The Athletic claims that Arsenal’s fears may be eased should two promising youngsters make the step up to Arteta’s squad.
The Spaniard has already shown faith in both after handing Nwaneri his debut at just 15. Nwaneri became the youngest-ever Premier League player when he came off the bench against Brentford in 2022, before adding to his sole appearance in February when he was brought on in the 6-0 drubbing of West Ham.
