A murder investigation has been launched after human remains were found near Manchester United’s training academy in a woodland area in Kersale Dale in Salford, near The Cliff, where the academy is based. The area has been sealed off by Greater Manchester Police, and an investigation is ongoing to shed light on the matter. No arrests have been made in relation to the incident, and the remains have not yet been identified.
Det Supt Lewis Hughes from Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Crime Division assured the local community of a visible presence in the area and urged anyone with relevant information to come forward. Chief Superintendent Tony Creely called for potential witnesses to come forward to help establish the identity of the person and carry out a diligent investigation on behalf of the person and their family. The police are speaking to locals, dog walkers, passersby, and anyone else who may have information to aid the investigation.
The area has been closed to members of the public, and a large scene is in place, likely to remain for some time. The authorities are determined to unravel the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
