Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, recently addressed his unsuccessful attempts to bring Frenkie de Jong and Harry Kane to the club in the last two years. Despite missing out on his priority target in both transfer windows since joining Old Trafford, he remains optimistic about the upcoming season.
Ten Hag expressed his desire to reunite with Frenkie de Jong, emphasizing the importance of building a team with talented players rather than solely relying on those with proven track records. Last summer, he considered Kane as his priority target, but talks with Tottenham Hotspur were cut short after it became apparent that Daniel Levy was firm in his negotiation stance.
The pursuit of De Jong had similarly ended in disappointment, with the player rejecting a move to Manchester United even after a long summer chase. Ten Hag saw Kane as the key to advancing his project after a successful first season that saw the team finish third in the Premier League and win the Carabao Cup.
