The summer clearout at Manchester United has reportedly begun, with the club making arrangements for Alvaro Fernandez’s permanent transfer to Benfica. Sir Jim Ratcliffe is said to be aware of the first two major departures, among a group of five players who are likely to leave.
Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial are set to depart the club for free. Erik ten Hag, in a recent statement, confirmed that there has been no progress in discussions with Varane regarding a contract extension.
Meanwhile, Martial, having spent nine years at the club, is also expected to leave, given his recent injury-stricken season. Additionally, a decision has been reportedly made to send Sofyan Amrabat back to Fiorentina at the end of the season, foregoing the £21 million buy option in his loan deal.
