Wayne Rooney joins former Man Utd team-mates in new job

Fabrizio Romano made the announcement in a social media video, stating that Wayne Rooney will be joining The Overlap. Rooney confirmed the news in a statement on Tuesday morning, expressing his excitement to join the team at The Overlap and appear on their YouTube channel and podcast. Before becoming the manager of Birmingham, Rooney had stints with DC United and Derby after retiring from professional football in January 2021. He has an impressive record of over 350 goals and has won 12 major trophies, including five Premier League titles.

Since leaving the Blues, he has ventured into sports punditry. Rooney was set to make his first appearance on Match of the Day last month, but had to cancel due to a back injury sustained while on holiday. He expressed his disappointment on social media and expressed his desire to be part of the team in the future.
