Liverpool agrees to deal with Feyenoord as Arne Slot is set to replace Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool have reportedly agreed on a deal to make Arne Slot their next manager, moving closer to the appointment after reaching a compensation package with Feyenoord. Slot is expected to take over from Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season. Initially, Liverpool’s offer of £7.7million was turned down by Feyenoord, but Slot has expressed his desire to move to the Premier League club and a deal has now been reached. The 45-year-old is set to succeed Klopp, who has endorsed the appointment, calling Slot a “good coach” in his press conference.

Slot led Feyenoord to their first Eredivisie title in 20 years last season, but his team currently trails nine points behind PSV with only three matches remaining. Liverpool’s interest in Slot arose this week, as they had previously considered Xabi Alonso and Ruben Amorim as potential options. Alonso chose to stay at Bayer Leverkusen, while Amorim reportedly has admirers at West Ham. For the latest updates and breaking news on this story, visit express.co.uk/sport/football.
