Arsenal and Tottenham are reportedly set to battle it out for West Ham teenager Daniel Rigge during the summer transfer window. The attacking midfielder, who is yet to make his senior debut for David Moyes’ side, has caught the attention of the Premier League’s Big Six with his performances for the Hammers’ academy.
Rigge has shone for West Ham’s U18s this season, scoring 11 goals from midfield in 19 league games. He has subsequently made the step up to Premier League 2 and scored in a 4-2 win over West Brom in January. West Ham now reportedly face a battle to keep one of their most promising young players. The report adds that Manchester United also harbor an interest in bringing Rigge closer to home.
Now 18, Rigge could reportedly face a big decision over his future. He penned his first professional contract with West Ham last October but could be the subject of a transfer battle between Arsenal and Spurs. “It has given me a lot of confidence that the Club believes in me and hopefully I can do well at West Ham in the future. I have really enjoyed my time here so far,” Rigge said.
“The most important thing is that things would need to be right between me and the club,” Moyes said on Friday. “And if we get that right then we will see what happens – but it will be at the end of the season.” Arsenal travel to Tottenham in Sunday’s North London Derby.
