Cole Palmer has been the only standout player for Chelsea this season, according to Getty images. The Blues may have a new potential superstar in Ecuadorian player Paez, who is set to join them next summer when he turns 18 in May 2025.
Paez has trained with the Chelsea first-team and has already made appearances for the Ecuador national team. Boss Mauricio Pochettino has praised Paez, noting his talent and ability to play in different positions, including as a dynamic midfielder.
Paez has shown promise with 11 goal contributions in 39 senior outings for Independiente del Valle, including a recent goal against Palmeiras in a Copa Libertadores group game. However, Independiente suffered a defeat in that match.
In the meantime, Chelsea will be looking to bounce back from recent setbacks and aim to secure a win in their upcoming match against Aston Villa at Villa Park. Chelsea’s hopes of qualifying for Europe have been slowly diminishing, with only two wins in their last six matches across all competitions.
