Upon his arrival in Portugal, the Sporting boss offered only three words to the media regarding his trip to England for talks with West Ham.
Amorim, who has been a target for both Liverpool and West Ham, has been the subject of speculation about his future after successfully managing Sporting for four years. Amorim had been considered a potential replacement for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, but it was reported that a move for Amorim was unlikely to be further considered by the Reds’ hierarchy. After his team’s 3-0 win over Vitoria, Amorim had a couple of days off and utilized the time to fly to London to meet with West Ham. Upon his return to Portugal, Amorim was met by numerous reporters seeking his thoughts on the reported meeting with West Ham and links with Liverpool.
However, he chose not to offer his assessment and instead indicated that he would address the media at his pre-match press conference ahead of Sporting’s upcoming match with Porto. Reports from CNN Portugal claim that Amorim flew to London on a private plane organized by West Ham’s owners, accompanied by businessman Raul Costa, after Sporting’s training session on Monday. The focus remains on his current team, despite the ongoing speculation about his future. With West Ham’s manager David Moyes’ future in doubt following their defeat by Crystal Palace, Amorim’s discussions with the club have attracted attention.
