Tyrell Malacia has missed the entire season for Manchester United after reportedly going against the club’s recommendation to operate on a knee injury under their surveillance in London last summer.

Instead, Malacia opted for surgery in the Netherlands, leading to a lack of regular communication about his recovery status. As a result, a decision was made to interrupt Malacia’s rehabilitation and undergo corrective surgery, this time under the supervision of United representatives.

In December, Manchester United confirmed a “setback” in Malacia’s recovery and initially expected him to return to action “early next year”. However, Sergio Reguilon’s loan was terminated in January under the belief that both Malacia and Luke Shaw would be available for the new year.

Unfortunately, Shaw suffered another injury after a brief return, and now Malacia seems set to miss the entire season. According to The Athletic, there is a sense of bad luck surrounding Malacia’s situation, but there are also frustrations over how all parties have handled the injury, leading to a delayed return.
