The Undertaker lifted the Riyadh Season Cup trophy aloft. WWE legend The Undertaker surprised everyone by making an appearance at the Riyadh Season Cup final in Saudi Arabia. His unexpected cameo left football star Cristiano Ronaldo and his Al-Nassr teammates stunned.
Despite his appearance, Al-Nassr was beaten 2-0 by Al-Hilal at Kingdom Arena. Before the match, Ronaldo and his teammates were all smiles, thanks to the wrestling icon’s unexpected appearance. The Undertaker emerged from the tunnel to his theme music, wearing his iconic black coat and hat, as he made his way to the center circle.
With men flanking him wearing hooded black coats with fire torches, “The Deadman”, whose real name is Mark Calaway, stood in front of a plinth and lifted the Riyadh Season Cup trophy aloft. Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal secured their place in the exhibition game by defeating Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami 6-0 and 4-3, respectively. The camera captured Ronaldo chuckling with his teammates as they stood in line next to the officials before the game started.
The Undertaker retired from professional wrestling in 2020 after a successful career and is known for his involvement in many of WWE’s most famous matches and events. WWE has a strong relationship with the Saudi Arabian General Entertainment Authority, holding high-profile events in the Kingdom. The wrestling leader has a deal to hold two premium events in the Kingdom each year.
This relationship continued with the opening of the WWE Experience in Riyadh in January, and WWE will host two more live events in Saudi Arabia in 2024. Although Ronaldo was in good spirits before the game due to The Undertaker’s appearance, matters soon took a turn on the pitch for Al-Nassr. Ronaldo played 90 minutes and received a booking en route to a convincing defeat, with goals from Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Salem Aldawsari.
