Tottenham’s chief commercial officer, Todd Kline, is leaving the club to join Chelsea after a tenure of two-and-a-half years. Kline’s appointment at Tottenham in 2021 was followed by several departures, and he was unable to secure naming rights for the club’s stadium, prompting his departure. Despite his departure from Tottenham, Kline is expected to take on a senior business role at Chelsea, working alongside co-owner Todd Boehly.
At Chelsea, he is anticipated to be involved in the club’s new stadium plans, with naming rights being a top priority. During his time at Tottenham, Kline did negotiate major sponsorship deals, including agreements with INEOS and Cinch, as well as a partnership with Formula One to build a karting track under the stadium. Chelsea, under the ownership of Boehly and Clearlake Capital, are aiming to strengthen their position after finishing 12th in the league last year and facing a challenging start to the current season.
Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino is under pressure as the current boss of the team, with Chelsea sitting 11th in the Premier League table. They recently suffered a 4-2 defeat at home to Wolves.
